Types of dental bridges:
Traditional “fixed-fixed” bridge
This consists of a false tooth being held in place by dental crowns that have been cemented onto each of the natural teeth adjacent to the missing tooth. This type of bridge is the most common type and can be used when you have natural teeth on each side of the missing tooth. In some cases, the bridge can be made one a single… In some cases, the bridge can be made on a single remaining tooth with a false tooth attached to replace the missing tooth. This is known as a fixed cantilever bridge.
Resin Bonded (“Maryland”) bridge
While a traditional bridge uses dental crowns on the adjacent natural teeth, a resin bonded bridge utilises a metal framework which is then stuck on to the back of the adjacent natural tooth/teeth. This type of bridge is a great option when the tooth next to the gap is healthy (does not contain a large filling) and we do not want to drill it down as we want to conserve your natural healthy enamel where possible!
